Game Update: Welcome Back to the '90s!
This is the biggest update I've done on any of my games, and will probably be the biggest one that Unstuck in Time will see.
When I initially released Unstuck, I was really happy with the game itself, but the presentation didn't quite hit what I wanted to do with it. With some time and practice, and the right tools, I feel like I've really nailed what I wanted the game to look and feel like. That's mostly what I've done in the update. The core gameplay should not have changed, for anyone who has started their journal already, but I'm hoping that there are some Quality of Life improvements that make it an easier and more engaging game.
Here are some of the biggest changes:
Core Book Layout
I have enough of an understanding of Affinity Publisher to actually make something that looks pretty. This also allowed me to add in the gameplay tables to the core book itself, meaning: Fewer files you have to keep open in order to play digitally. The presentation is a lot cleaner than the Doc and Spreadsheet format, too, and I was able to (sort of?) helpfully illustrate some of the concepts the game talks about.
Plus, that cover is better than what I had in my head when I initially started. I really had a blast leaning into the '80s/'90s theme.
Jump Tracker
I'm super comfortable in Spreadsheets, but I can recognize that they don't exactly scream "This. Is. Fun." in neon lights. While I was working the tables into the Core Book, it occurred to me that a separate tracker could make the game easier to play than the checkbox columns in the Excel-formatted Prompt Sheet. Thus, the PDF with form-fillable checkboxes was born.
For anyone who prefers the Excel version, I've left that prompt sheet available in the downloads.
Print-and-Play Version
There were some fundamental problems with the Google Slides/PowerPoint Print-and-Play version of the document, so I've removed that. It was functional, but there were some design flaws that made it not work quite the way I wanted it to.
Again, Affinity Publisher and Time being the epic crossover event of the century, I've made a new PDF version that actually hits the vision I had for the game. The pages line up the way they're supposed to, the colors are a lot nicer, AND it looks kind of like an old Blue Exam Book, which just tickles me.

Hope you all enjoy playing the new version of Unstuck as much as I enjoyed bringing it to life!
